Telephone Pt II: Can You Hear Me Now??

The Cellular Map

A much clearer picture has been emerging over the last couple of weeks since the Preliminary Hearing of Charles Ray Merritt.

Namely, his whereabouts and activities from February 4-8th.

Consider this timeline.

February 4

5:47 PM – Joseph McStay calls Chase Merritt. It’s the last call where they actually conversed. Is this where McStay confronted Merritt? Did he tell him he was going to Police?

5:48 Merritt’s Phone is turned off or disabled until 9:32, at which time it pings in Mira Loma.

7:47 PM The neighbor’s surveillance camera picks up what could be Merritt’s truck. Identifying feature:Tailpipe on passenger side of truck; McStay’s Trooper tailpipe is located on the left.

Chase Merritt, for whatever reason, told detectives it takes him exactly one hour to drive to McStay’s house in Fallbrook. This leaves him one hour to brutally murder the family (which probably happened over a matter of minutes) and load them into his truck.

During this time lapse, Cathy Jarvis calls Chase 5 times, obviously trying to get a hold of him, not knowing where he is at.

February 5

7 AM – 3:54 PM Merritt’s phone pings starting in Upland (next to Rancho Cucamonga), then San Clarita, San Fernando and ending in Rancho Cucamonga.

3:54 PM – 9:17 PM  Merritt’s phone is yet again turned off. 3 hours 24 minutes.

Drive time from Rancho Cucamonga to Quarry Road, Victorville: 50 minutes

Giving Merrit the same drive time back to RC, that leaves 1 hour 24 minutes to kill. Or bury.

February 6

1:46 AM – 1:30 PM Meritt’s phone pings 6 times in Victorville and Oro Grande area. 5 of those pings originating from the same cell tower.

Merritt called or attempted to call his girlfriend’s number 3 times 11:31, 11:34, 11:52 AM. Two other calls were made to another number at 11:32 and 11:33. The number dialed was a Pomona number, right next to RC.

Was this her work number? Why was Chase so desperate to get a hold her? Did it have to do with a debt collector that called Merritt’s phone at 11:30.

Was Chase stuck in the mud? Could that be a reason?

Graves Canopies 1

Graves site. Notice the deep ruts near Grave B on the right.

If he was at the graves site, why didn’t he think to turn his phone off then? Over confident??

3:14 PM Merritt’s phone is turned off.

February 7

10:35 AM, 20 hours after Merritt’s phone is shut off, it is turned back on. Where was he and what was he doing for 20 hours?

10:35 AM – 5:17 PM Merrit’s phone pings in Rancho Cucamonga.

February 8

7:36 AM – 1:31 PM Merritt’s phone is again shut off.

1:31 PM Merritt’s pings off a tower in Corona.Several  Minutes later, his phone pings off a a tower at the Limonite Avenue and I15 Freeway intersection. He was moving in the opposite direction of Falbrook.

Did Merritt use the 6 hour gap of his phone being off to orchestrate the abandoning of the Trooper at the San Ysidro/Mexico border?

    • (Sorry…sent in error con’t…) The CNN special “Chasing a Killer: Inside the McStay Family Murders,”is on youtube by dark redux @ the 25.10 mark, you will see Chase cearly digging into a prospecting hole as someone who is left-handed. You can tell by his stance and where his hand placements are on the shovel handle. I am right handed, and Chases’s are opposite of how I hold a shovel.

      • Chase is looking in robust good health too. Hale and hearty enough to work steadily in the heat of mid day.
Its hard for me to watch Chase but i gotta hand it to Randi Kaye,(and LE for their covert surveillance), she is such a good interviewer. Chase had no idea he walking into by agreeing to be in that show.

  2. Why did he leave the phone on when burying the victims? Hmm… good question that has bothered me too, C. Jarvis as a lookout? Doubtful, LE probably looked into that possibility. I’m guessing he forgot or just figured one tower in the area if he even knew that, wasn’t enough to ‘triangulate’ like you hear thrown around in movies and crime shows. One of many mistakes that have been revealed. But in spite of that he almost got away with this it wasn’t for the baby’s skull, like a beacon in the lonely desert.

  3. 14 Q Did you ask Miss Jarvis whether or not the defendant was
15 a person that was typically hard to get ahold of via cell phone?
16 A She said that sometimes he was hard to get ahold of.
17 That he would go to the casino, it could be for up to a couple
18 of days at a time, and if he was at a table, he typically
    19 wouldn’t answer his phone.

  4. See, I bet little boy Chase spent his whole life blaming, and foisting responsibility onto, the women in his life. His sisters and mom and aunties and girlfriends.
He was probably very cheesed off about having to defer to the bosses wife. I’m thinking he didn’t like that one little bit.

Q Did you note something interesting in the course of the
interview about the amount of detail the defendant was able to
    give you about February 4th?
    A Yes, sir.
    Q And what was that?
A Mr. Merritt was able to recall, have a good recollection
of everything that occurred from the time he got up in the
morning, until approximately 1700 hours. After 1700 hours he
didn’t recall, basically, anything that occurred. And he
indicated that his best recollection of anything after that
would have been off Jarvis’s memory.
    Q Catherine Jarvis?
    A Yes.

  5. Why is Baker so hell bent on believing that Blanche wasn’t at the Fallbrook house on the 19th? Does he think McGuyver is lying too? Hell, this article proves Blanche was at the Fallbrook house the weekend of the 19th. Or does he believe the reporter made it up?

    Posted: Feb 22, 2010 3:53 PM EST

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) – There’s still no sign of a family from Fallbrook that has been missing for almost two weeks.

Joseph and Summer McStay were last seen with their two kids earlier this month. Investigators found their car at the border. So far, there haven’t been any solid leads.

In the meantime, Summer’s family searched the McStays’ home over the weekend trying to turn up clues.

“I can’t imagine where they are… I have no ideas. Where they would go?” Summer’s mother Blanche Aranda said.

  6. Corn:

Regarding your conversations with the sister, is there anything you feel comfortable in sharing? For instance, does she think Merritt killed the family? Did he act alone? Did he tell her anything that might incriminate him? You said also that a-hole is trying to involve her so I’m wondering if he indicated to her if he truly believes Merritt is innocent or is it part of his game? I personally think he’s pretending to support Merritt to further his own agendas. Thanks, Corn!

  7. Something I’ve been pondering for a while now regarding Baker’s game of pin the tail on the perp. What if the dream team is asking him to float the various scenarios to see what might fly and what might need some tweaking? I have a difficult time believing that one person can be so bipolar with their opinions, if that makes sense.

In case ya’ll don’t already know, I have believed in his guilt since his arrest.

While I am not the greatest at putting my thoughts into words, I do try to keep up with everyone here. It is a pleasure reading everyone’s thoughts and theories. And ever so often we get going with some humor too.

  9. It is interesting that Chase printed out all the checks he typed up, even the one for 0 dollars, before he deleted them. But the check typed on the 4th at Joey’s house was just typed and deleted – no printing of it. That’s really damning. So much for that crazy story of his that he and Joey were doing this to keep Dan in the dark.

    Liked by 1 person

    • I wonder why he didn’t print it off. No paper or the printer was busted or out of ink?
Why take the the time to type in, then delete a check, but not create it? Especially after having just massacred an entire family. I don’t get it.

            • I found the discussion with other people about Chase’s role in the business interesting too. He even tried to make himself out to have a bigger role than what he did. That he contracted Metro for Joey. David at Metro set LE straight that he and Joseph had the partnership, not Chase.

              I sense some resentment possibly.

I wonder if he was in an absolute panic, and wasn’t thinking clearly. If the time stamp on the video is accurate, he may have started to drive away, then remembered the check he needed for part of his plan. Parked and returned to the house, but still being addled, he hits the delete button before he hits the print….

          I think LE call it
“Doing the Full Tilt Boogie”. Its the emotional response that happens to someone after they commit murder. This is supposedly when killers are most likely to make glaring mistakes.

The thought of him sitting at Joey’s computer that night after he murdered them makes me sick to my stomach.

The death penalty was created for monsters like him.

    • I’m still not clear on what he wanted to do exactly with the QB? He wanted the customer svc rep to merge the Custom and Contact accounts together and then delete them? Or he wanted the Custom account merged into some other unknown account (unknown to us) and then the Custom account canceled and deleted?

Did he think no one would notice if both QBs disappeared?

      Like

      • I think he was trying to get both accounts deleted but I’m not sure why. It doesn’t make sense to me.

        • Deleting both accounts deletes all he did (at least for the time being). Wasn’t he trying to delete all his check writing activities? He may not have known there was an activity log.

          Liked by 1 person

          • That would raise some eyebrows if both QBs disappeared. Guess he was willing to risk it. LE might have focused more on the finances if he had been successful. So possibly not being able to delete them bought him almost 4 years of freedom.

            Liked by 1 person

            • It seems that way and it worked for him for him until he was arrested. How LE missed all those cashed checks and deleted checks is what is mind boggling since they had the Quickbooks emails.

22 subscription was canceled, that he needed to delete all of the
        23 accounts.”
        ********* ****** **
It sounds like Merritt had set up a new account. and he wanted eip custom and contact accts merged, then have the funds of the merged accts transfered to the new account. Once the transfer was complete, the eip qb would be deleted.
        That’s my interpretation.

        • Could he still continue to drain the money if he did that? Isn’t the money still in Joey’s bank account? I don’t understand how QB works. I just thought it was an accounting tool like an online ledger.

          Like

          • ABC, you are correct.
The qb wasn’t linked to the bank acct. Maybe he had some scheme worked out for assuming Joey’s electronic id.

              • Has it been confirmed that someone did in fact try to order a new QB program or was that a rumor? If true, maybe he thought he could replace the existing accounts and keep siphoning the money somehow. I know how QB works but thankfully my mind doesn’t work like a criminal’s mind.

Bill Gore goons had hoped for the body to have been found by someone sooner that’s why the graves were soo shallow. They were meant to be found. But with the Chicago trials, the 80,000 pages being released, Benghazi being questioned, the 28 pages movement etc…. They needed this body found. so Bill Gore’s goons went undug a bone or too covered it back up pulling out a few to back it look like animals pull bones out. To increase the chances of it being found. I guess he’s going to go back to accusing the parents of being criminals and blame them for death of the boys.
He’s got some biblical quotes up on his banner too, as well as a couple of Christian tweeters that he’s following. But I think that’s just a nod to the baby killers family’s penchant for conducting public prayer circles. I don’t believe for a second that Baker is a serious follower of Christ’s word. He’d probably use the pages for tp if its all that was at hand.

His position on drugs, may be due to Colorado making pot legal and all his contacts out there praising the economics of it.

    • Speaking of those public prayer circles, I have a feeling those are just a PR stunt by the family. Or worse: praying to a dark power. Merritt’s siblings closest to him are shady looking folks as far as I’m concerned. The brother has a look of foul stench. There’s something reeeal dark about that fella. He thoroughly reeks of it. And the sister looks very cold, in the video from outside the courthouse that day Chase decided to represent himself. She also has that emotionless soft tone of voice, just like Chase. Her hubby and stepson don’t exactly look like winners either. Very dark, unhappy, negative looking people.

I think that whole family has a dark morbid cloud lingering over them. At least the ones who are closest to Chase, anyway. They could all be the cast of the next “The Hills Have Eyes” sequel. Creepy as hell!

I know a few people who are like Dierdre if they forget their meds for a few days. I would never make fun of them.
The crazy conspiracy theories and scenarios they come up with while off their meds? Not so much. That stuff can be hilarious!!
I am outraged that Baker exploits these people to further his agenda of muddling the truth, of implicating innocent people, and creating a general distrust of law enforcement.
Everything he does is so haphazard and half assed.
The least he could do is be specific. Address each instance of wrong doing by law enforcement in a way that might make a difference at the end of the day. Fact check. Verify the credibility of sources. Admit when hes made a mistake. But that’s too much work for a lazy a-hole like Baker. Too many brain cells expended. Too much heart and caring and effort involved in doing a good job. That’s what makes me want to cry.
He takes advantage of not only those who comment, but his audience as well by approving outrageous comments in the hope of wringing out a few laughs for his audience. I’m sure he only views Dierde for the entertainment value she provides. And that hurts too.
The really sad thing is there are thousands more Bakers out there, some in very powerful positions.
What makes me laugh til I cry, is that it’s human nature. At the end of the day it’s really only ourselves we can work on and change.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference……that’s funny too….when we bang our head against a wall trying to change others.

I’m telling you, when he gets out you MUST meet him, especially any of you cowgirls out there. Giddy up! Yep, the jailers gave us extra time just like they gave Chase and his family extra visitation time on his birthday. Chase said in between the beatings the jailers are a pretty good bunch of guys.

Anywho… he sounded frigging a-maz-ing! Strong and healthy as a killer. Did I just say that? My bad! What I meant to say was strong and healthy as an ox. The jail food is doing wonders for him. And wouldn’t you know, he is cured of his congestive heart failure. It’s nothing short of a miracle that he no longer has it. I did mail him ttoo book that the misses and I wrote about eating nothing but the grass in the yard and covering yourself in big white fluffy dog hair so I can only assume he took the advice to heart. Haha, I made a funny. I love me, me and me.

We talked about the pesky money stealing thing and he swears it’s all a huge misunderstanding and the casino floor bosses are going to back him on that. Oh, and the phone pings! Well it seems the FBI are a bunch of fucking morons and don’t know what they’re talking about. How can our Federal gubmit be so stupid? And corrupt! They’re just like Ramos and McMahon and out to frame poor Chase. I don’t get why they’d want to screw such a swell guy. Anywho, all that Quick Books jibber jabber is all because of Michael and Susan. They held a gun to his pretty little head and made him type, delete, print, over and over again until THEY had the money to hit the tables. Chase swears he did not want any of the money, regardless of how it looks. His exact words were “trust me, I’m being set up”. I believe him. I think Bill Gore and some vomiting dog are in on it too.

K, so he promised he’s going to call again super soon so don’t worry about him in the mean time. He has a great new haircut, thanks to Mr. Mettias calling a Saudi Prince and the showers now have luke warm water, again thanks to the Prince, or was it the Princess? Don’t matter, he’s doing peachy keen.

  22. It seems like he is tipping Chase’s hand by hinting at the defense strategy. They will use the video of the Mexican crossing along with SDSD prior suspicions that the family crossed the boarder. They will try to prove that it WAS the McStays going down to Mexico and that they were up to no good. Got themselves killed. So this must be the shit storm. Uh huh.

Sure. Rick couldn’t even pony up the funds for a copy of the prelim transcripts.

  26. Lets play, pretend Baker is telling the truth.

A private investigator could not come to any conclusions about Joey or Summer without speaking to family, friends and being able to get their hands on records that are not public records. Does anyone believe any of the family or friends or other prosecution witnesses would speak to anyone other than LE since the arrest? A private investigator is not going to be able to subpoena records. And in an ongoing criminal case FOIA isn’t going to cut it. If media can’t get their hands on it, some slub PI isn’t. Only leaves the defense sharing what they have, which is what the state has given them. And the state believes that evidence proves Chase murdered them because of money…his wanting their money and/or covering up that he stole their money.

  32. Let me get all this straight about Chase. Yes, he hasn’t been to trial yet and yes he’s presumed innocent until proven guilty. BUT the evidence is so damning. There can be no alternative explanation for his involvement. There are pings that tie him to the gravesite, which is in close proximity to his residence. His sister blew his lie out of the water about visiting her in the hospital. He has no alibi. There are QB checks that were written to him, printed, deleted, deposited to his account. Someone from his own cell phone called to try to cancel the QB account, not knowing at that point where his friend / business associate even was at the time. His DNA is in the Trooper. He’s left handed and one of the biggest wounds to Joey was on the left side of his head (from a blow to the back of the head). There were 27 calls between him and Joey the day of the disappearance and then miraculously after the last known call, his phone is shut off. He was “definitely” the last person to see Joey. He didn’t recall if the police asked him if he killed Joey and his family. He went from 27 calls in one day to 3 calls over the next couple of days with no messages being left. He hated Summer (and her brutal beating proves the killer had rage for her). He referred to the family in past tense. The list goes on and on and on and on. And I know this evidence has been discussed heavily over the last several days. I just don’t understand why a man like this would proclaim his innocence and declare that a shitstorm is coming. Lying, cheating, stealing, volatile, insecure, jealous, con artist, baby killer, murderer piece of shit. Sorry, had to vent…….

From what we now know of Summer’s injuries, it seems she was attacked with a considerable amount of rage, which fits perfectly with Chase’s known hatred of her. And I think it speaks volumes that he had a hard time remembering her name. I think he wanted to wipe her off the face of the earth…..he projected onto her all his troubles, seeing her as the cause rather than taking responsibility for his own self inflicted woes. Now that he has successfully wiped her out, she no longer exists to him. I think she may have been his true target, but the way things went down he had to make his move at that time, which meant he also had to kill them all.

During the discussion of can a man who murders children still be a loving parent to his own children, and casinos, and greed, and ratbag’s lies…I got to thinking about redemption.
As many of you know, less than 175 yrs ago there were horrible massacres and enslavement of the California first peoples. They lost control of the management of their lands, and rivers, farmland and way of life. Their children were stolen and sold into slavery. They have suffered thru generations of post traumatic stress and dysfunction. Thru it all the elders have preserved what they can of their language, their history, traditions and culture. Selflessly giving to the youth, sharing the songs of their ancestors. Mentoring and guiding children, so they can have a better future. The elders have also encouraged their youth to be leaders and helpers in the communities of the descendants of the ones who abused them. People like James Ramos.
    Talk about redemption.
I posted the video as an example of what positive selfless parenting is. The positive effect that it can have on an entire community for generations to come. Its very powerful.
So that’s where that little giggly happy hopping song filled video came from.
Here’s the back story, for anyone who is interested, its about 5 minutes.

Houston woman is seeking an attorney to help her prevent a conspiracy “truther” from posting videos on YouTube saying her murdered son is alive and part of a child trafficking ring.

Brendan Gozalez, son of Rebecca Gonzalez, was murdered by his father in Nebraska in 2003. The father, Ivan Henk, admitted in court that he decapitated his son and dumped his body in a landfill. The 4-year-old boy’s body was never found.

According to KHOU, a YouTube user using the name Celeste Cortes, has been uploading a video featuring a montage of pictures of the boy along with pictures of similar looking older boys, inferring that Brendan is still alive.

  51. This is what I noticed in the border crossing video that I would think someone who knew the family would have noticed this as well…I slowed down the “bc family” frame by frame and saw a few things like:

*The caps worn by the kids in the bc video had some kind of “attachment” at the very top, similar to that of a 1970’s ski cap? (Very noticeable in a few frames only as they passed by the street light.)
*The beanie knit caps the boys wore did not, at least
in the pictures I have seen.

*One of the kids could possibly be the apx height of G, but imo, the other child appeared to be too tall and a different body shape than Jjr. J was a little guy, with short little legs.
*The white jacket that was supposedly Summer’s,
looked like a vest, not a full jacket.
*Looked like there was a black horizontal stripe of
some kind on the back of the vest/jacket?
*The male figure did not resemble JM at all, which many have also mentioned.

The McStay family crossing into Mexico, is being
brought up again. I personally don’t believe this to
be true, at least not the one’s in the bc video.

Can anyone else see the “attachments/round shapes” at the top of the kid’s caps, in the bc video?

What would be the purpose of taking the family to Mexico, dead or alive, then bringing them back to Cali just to bury them? It makes zero sense.

I think Baker knows Merritt’s goose is cooked and when it is Baker will be nothing more than a bad, irrelevant memory. Baker has to come up with a story line in an attempt to stay relevant and sadly his followers are too stupid and gullible to see what he’s doing. With regard to the kids’ hats / caps, I do see what you are seeing….tassles at the top. And I think the black horizontal stripe on the woman’s jacket might be the edge of a hood. At least that’s what it looks like to me.

One thing that I always wondered about, re: the video. I wondered why SDSD didn’t ask every news station in SoCal to air that video and ask for the public’s help in identifying the family that they claimed was the McStays. There are a lot of workers who cross that border on a daily basis. I do know that there were flyers distributed by McStay family members at the border crossing area, but I would think that airing that footage and airing it often, along with pictures of the McStays might have yielded something.

Here are Full, Unedited Transcripts for Merritt June 15 Preliminary Hearing

I now have Teresa Wolfe’s (court reporter) permission to post the full, unedited transcripts from the June 15 Chase Merritt Preliminary Hearing. She asks that you not download or copy and paste these transcripts, but that you read them here. Comments are open for this thread, let us know what you see. I have posted the transcripts in six parts due to their length.

I get that she is not all there but how and when did she insert herself in this case.
    Who is she?

    • She is a mentally ill woman who has created multiple websites and videos over the years. From the bit I’ve read it seems to have started after 9-11, her delusions always seem to circle back to that event. It is really hard to follow her train of thought or figure out what this big govt conspiracy against her is about.

I don’t know how long she has been on Baker’s site. She appears to follow some true crime. There is another whacko with similar issues following him and the McStay case too…last name is Bland. She is all over the internet with crackpot websites too.

      • Before they were found, I myself, like so many others, believe it may have the family in the video. There was other strong evidence to support it. My only hang up with it was the last frame before the crossing. The male looked to have longer hair than Joey. But it definitely looked like Summer and the boys.

Further input from the family unfortunately solidified the belief. Merritt himself said it could not be the family. That in itself does make me wonder why, if in fact he is the killer. That is my only hang up on it, why he did not run with it.

          • Could be. This is from the DailyMail interview.

“He was my best friend and we told each other everything. When they showed me the video of them crossing into Mexico, I told the them Joseph would not go into Mexico with those kids and that the man in the footage was not him.

Joseph had a very particular walk, it sounds strange, but he moved like a duck and that man didn’t. There is absolutely no possibility that was him.”

I wonder now if they actually showed him the video and did he say that then.

  60. JMO, Based on the pom poms on top of the knit caps, I just had this feeling that the kids in the bc video were girls. Also, Summer was at least 50% hispanic, so she is going to resemble the majority of the hispanic women crossing the border, on a grainy video. The women going through those turnstyles will not be a very diverse group?! Now if this video had been from an airport, I would feel a little
    differently.

It was also my understanding that PM said it wasn’t Joey or Summer, and I believe so did the Arandas? LE kept insisting it was the McStays, from what I have read and remember watching on the TV

    specials.

  64. Search warrants released to the media Wednesday morning reveal that accused McStay family killer Charles Merritt had allegedly been loaned thousands of dollars by Joseph McStay to repay gambling debts, was set to be fired by McStay and had made statements saying that he would murder McStay’s business associate.

In an Aug. 4, 2014 warrant, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies write that Merritt told San Diego County Sheriff’s investigators that he did not like Joseph McStay’s wife, Summer, or Joseph’s business associate Daniel Kavanaugh.

Merritt reportedly told SDSD investigators in an interview that, “If I were ever going to commit a murder, it would be with him,’ referring to harming Kavanaugh.”

Kavanaugh was also interviewed, and allegedly told investigators that Joseph McStay “lent Merritt $30,000 to pay a gambling debt Merritt incurred,” and that Joseph planned to fire Merritt.

      • I’m not thru reading them but in SWs for a bunch of phone numbers stating it might lead to additional suspects, Jarvis’ name and phone number keeps coming up. But that could simply be that her name was used for her and Chase’s phone accounts.

        • I admit that legalese isn’t my first language but from what I did read and understood from the warrants, Barbara Richard’s attention-grabbing tweet seemed like a Baker-style long leap to a conclusion.

          • They stated they wanted search warrants because it was probable (likely) someone else could have been involved, since it’s a quadruple murder and transporting of bodies to desert location, clean up, etc.
it seems more like they wanted to seize records to see if any matched up with being a possible helper. That’s how it read to me. Not that they think there’s more involved.

      • Is that where they stated someone possibly brought the phone into a t mobile store to be hacked? And that they have evidence it logged on there? Was confusing to me that they said a former eip customer was there?

      • It was in two SWs. One said he kept delaying his Feb interview with San Diego saying he had health issues and had heart stents inserted recently. It was brought up in another SW, where they said in home videos close to the time the McStays were murder- Chase jumped a fence and climbed a mountain. I’ll see if I can find the page numbers.

  68. According to the search warrants, Summer’s remains were found with a terry cloth robe. A similar robe was pictured on a hook in the bathroom. (jmo) It now seems more likely that Summer might have been giving one of the kids a bath, when she was attacked.

    Like

    • makes sense since the boy’s cat towel/robe was in the grave and only one wadded up towel was found in the bathroom. 4 people in a home, should be more towels in the bathrooms.

  69. So he stole their phones, credit cards and wallet/purse. Guess we know who tried to update the Capitol One credit card now. Yeah sure, Joey gave him his credit card number and QB accounts to use. Keene Engineering should breath a sigh of relief, as I’m sure since Chase was given “the keys to the castle” they were going to be his mark.

I’m still piecing together T-Mobile SW. It sounds like he might have been trying to crack Joey’s password to get to the info to transfer QBs. But when he didn’t succeed, he called back on the 9th in a frenzy, and told them to just delete both accounts and forget about the instructions from the 8th.

  70. The search warrants also mentioned, “that blood spatter and or cast off can be painted over, and will not be noticeable to the naked eye. However,
blood that has been painted over can be found, if the proper forensic tests are performed, even years later.”

    Like

    • The majority of the “poster boards” on rb’s blog, insisted that blood could not be painted over! I disagreed…just say’n! I don’t know if they were actually killed in the home. Seems to me the attacks started in the home, and the murderer may have ended their lives elsewhere? Proper forensics were never performed in the home back in 2010. I realize, after the bodies were found, SBSD performed tests for blood, etc… Were these just “surface” luminol tests, or did they bring in special equipment and scan each wall for blood that could have been painted over? All of the flooring had been replaced
by the new home owner as well. The murderer had days and days to cover up the crime! Too many assumptions were made early on, that the McStays
could not have been attacked/killed in their home. jmo

      • Yes, the warrants say that you can paint over blood, but if the scene had been properly processed at the time of the crime, the blood could have been detected.

        • I got this out of google cache – he has since deleted this – it was originally posted June 24th.

          2. Chase Merritt failed two important questions on his polygraph.

Yes, he took it voluntarily and yes, polygraphs are not admissible and sometimes not accurate. I don’t know exactly how many questions he was asked, including his warmups, but the two questions he answered “less than truthful” according to test results could be problematic. Or, is there an explanation?

Question one: “Did you have anything to do with the disappearance of the McStay family?”

          Chase answer: “No.”

Result: Answer is “less than truthful.”

Question two: “Do you know where the McStay family is today?”

          Chase answer: “No.”

Result: Answer is “less than truthful.”

So do these results mean that Chase lied? Not necessarily. Chase has a heart condition, has had two heart attacks, and takes certain meds for that condition. He also has three stents. This condition has been known to affect the outcome of polygraph tests.
